"Picking took place between September 10-20, before harvesting the grapes for the Vino Nobile di Montepulciano, which explains the fresh and fruity character of this young, versatile red wine made with Sangiovese grapes."

The 2011 Rosso di Montepulciano is a very pretty, polished red. Sweet cherries, flowers, mint and licorice emerge from this gracious, beautifully delineated wine. In 2011, Avignonesi’s Rosso is especially silky, fragrant and refined. Even better, it is a great value.
A medium-weight red, showing cherry, spice, wild herb and mineral flavors. Firm, with a beam of acidity for focus and a lingering aftertaste of tobacco. Drink now through 2020. –BS
