Intense, deep red in colour, this wine shows ripe and fresh forest fruits such as blueberry and raspberry. Lots of character. Desiderio 2010 is long, silky and full-bodied, with a concentrated, harmonic structure accentuated by a vibrant acidity.

"The 2010 vintage offered the perfect opportunity to explore the finer, more elegant side of Merlot. A long growing season, brought on by a cool and damp spring, was followed by a summer which saw a bit more rain than usual and a hot, dry autumn, offering a perfect picking season. This gave the grapes all the time they needed to develop a perfect balance in their fruit, structure, fragrance and freshness."
Desiderio is an outstandingly delicious Merlot from Cortona with a soft, yielding personality and loads of sweet cherry-berry nuances.
In the glass, the wine is deep purple color with the slightest of fades at the rim of the bowl. Aromas are plentiful and offer fresh herbs, lavender, crushed black plum and menthol notes. Texturally, this wine displays the meatier side of Merlot, with spicy black plums, mint and coffee on the palate. It's got more structure than you might expect and quite a bit of "grip" to the tannins in this 2010. Can easily benefit from 3-5 years in the cellar. Delicious.
