"50&50 has a deep, dark ruby colour. A powerful and seductive wine, the bouquet is intense and persistent with notes of red fruits, black cherries, sweet spices and an underlying, balsamic touch. On the palate this wine is full-bodied and characterized by a surprising freshness and silky soft tannins with a long lingering, pleasantly dry finish. "

The 2009 50 & 50 is the most successful expression in a mini vertical of the 2007, 2008 and 2009 vintages of this wine. The blend is Sangiovese and Merlot from two of Tuscany's icon wine estates. This vintage, and the warm sunshine that accompanied the early stages of the harvest, gives more room to the Merlot component of the wine especially on the bouquet. Soft cherry and blackberry is backed by exotic spice and leather. Sangiovese's acidity appears in the mouth and this wine should evolve nicely over the next ten years.

Characterized by sensuous aromas of balsamic and rosemary. The structure is strong, but not deterring, with a classic and intense finish.
